Overview: What is injection molding?
Injection molding is a widely used manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting molten material into a mold. This process is commonly used with a variety of materials, including metals, glasses, elastomers, confections, and most commonly thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers.
The injection molding process involves heating and injecting material, often plastic, into a mold cavity. Once in the cavity, the material cools and hardens, taking on the shape of the cavity. The mold is then opened, and the newly formed part is ejected, ready for any necessary finishing work.
