What Mass Production Does

The route that follows bridge production and supports a product through its entire commercial life.

Mass production is the lane for engineered volumes. Tooling is hardened steel, cycle times are tuned, and inspection is engineered to the part risk. The same engineering team that built the prototype and the bridge run supports the mass-production launch.

When to use it

Choose mass production for products in commercial release, regulatory submissions that require production-line data, spare parts that are still in service, and after-market replacements for systems that are in the field.

Design Rules That Speed Hard-Tooling

  • Keep wall thickness uniform to avoid sink marks and warped production parts.
  • Add drafts of 1 to 2 degrees on every vertical face to keep cycle time short and tool life long.
  • Standardise on resins that are stocked in the production region to keep lead time short.
  • Specify the source inspection level on the drawing, not in the purchase order.
  • Plan the line side actions for part changes; every revision needs a new PPAP.
